WHY IS INTRODUCING YOURSELF IMPORTANT IN ENGLISH?
Introducing yourself allows you to start
conversations naturally and politely. It helps you build social and
professional relationships, feel more confident when speaking English, and
communicate clearly in everyday situations.
COMMON SITUATIONS TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF
You may need to introduce yourself at
school, at work, while traveling, or during online meetings. Each situation may
require a different level of formality.
ESSENTIAL VOCABULARY AND EXPRESSIONS
Hello – A neutral greeting used in most
situations.
Hi – Informal and common.
My name is… – Used to say your name clearly.
It’s nice to meet you – Polite expression.
It’s a pleasure to meet you – Formal expression.
How are you? – Common question.
How’s it going? – Informal.
How do you do? – Very formal.
PRONUNCIATION TIPS FOR SPANISH SPEAKERS
The “H” in hello is soft. The vowel in meet
is long /iː/. Avoid translating directly from Spanish.
It is extremely important to learn how to pronounce the phonetics for avoiding future misunderstandings.
The "y" might be easily pronounce as the spanish y as in "yuca" cassava in English. and there are some high frequency words such as you, your.
